Growing

Growing your own Helix Waxflower variety plants.

Helix Australia Waxflower selections typically produce a well rounded shrub with waxy flowers growing to approximately 2m high and 1.5m width. They prefer an open sunny or partly shaded position and grow in a wide range of free draining soils. They are tolerant of hot dry conditions and have a low water requirement once established.

Waxflower plants are best planted in late winter, early spring and autumn and should be well watered at both the planting and establishment stage. Once established they have a low water requirement.

Waxflower plants respond well to heavy pruning and shaping and can be cut back quite hard after flowering has finished in late spring. Regular pruning ensures a compact, dense and well rounded Waxflower shrub is produced in your home garden environment.
